Jack Loomis of Upper St. Clair shot a 100-10x score during the WPIAL team rifle championships held Feb. 8 at Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen’s Club.

Loomis tied two others with perfect scores but it was Amanda Hardman’s marksmanship that led Hempfield to its second straight team title and fourth championship in five seasons.

The Spartans are now one of six teams to win six or more WPIAL rifle team titles, joining Munhall (23), Trinity (18), Mt. Lebanon (7), Bethel Park (6) and Woodland Hills (6).

The Spartans compiled a 800.64 score to slip past runner-up Butler, which finished with an 880.59 mark.

While Trinity captured the bronze, Bethel Park (796.57), Mt. Lebanon (796.52), Upper St. Clair (796.48), Waynesburg Central (795.46), Armstrong (793.53), and McGuffey (793.47) rounded out the standings in the nine-team field.

Armstrong’s Caleb Osborne matched Loomis and Hardman in scoring and all three gained All-Tournament team honors.

Mt. Lebanon’s Tommy Martin as well as Bethel Park’s Maxwell James and Lindsay Safer earned the recognition as well.

Martin had a top score of 100.09 for the Blue Devils, who finished the regular season as co-champions of Section 3 with the Spartans.

Other top performers for the Blue Devils were Chase Crandall, John Westwood, Emory Guenther, Max Kazmierczak, Mattox Psilos, Sigmond Kukla, Graceann Foster, Alex Jackson and Avi Remes.

For BP, James and Safer posted 100.08 scores along with teammate Owen Chaffin.

Adam Calhoun, Zach Bush, Alex Markunas, Sydney Zuber, Arabella Kennedy, John Robert and AJ Hubber also contributed to BP’s total.

The Hawks finished the regular season as co-champions in Section 2 with Trinity.

For USC, Brett Gardner, Erin Shehab, Logan Wells and Molly Walsh all posted 100 scores but differed in X counts from between and 3 and 8 compared to Loomis’ perfect 10.

Other top performers for the Panthers included Molly and John Walsh; Jakob Sattterfield, Carter Wolfe, Josie Jarrett and Jack Swanson.

The Panthers were Section 1 runners-up to Waynesburg Central.
