Mt. Lebanon girls continue to roll
The Mt. Lebanon girls basketball team continues to roll up victories.
After scoring an overtime triumph against Moon in overtime, 58-53, the Blue Devils resumed Section 2 play and posted wins against Canon-McMillan, 55-22, and Baldwin, 54-48.
Lebo is 16-0 overall and 8-0 in the section.
Reagan Murdoch led the Blue Devils against the Tigers. She exploded for 27 points, while Ashleigh Connor followed with 14.
Against the Big Macs, Payton Collins led the way for Lebo with 11.
Connor topped out with 22 points against the Highlanders while Murdoch and Collins chipped in 11 each.
Upper St. Clair picked up wins on the road at Baldwin, 65-37, and Canon-McMillan, 64-19.
Riley Kalocay provided a game-high 23 points against the Highlanders and 13 against the Big Macs. Mia Brown followed with 18 points for USC against Baldwin and 10 against Canon-Mac.
USC’s Molly James scored 11 points against Baldwin while Kate Robbins scored 11 for the Panthers against Canon-Mac.
USC improved to 7-2 in Section 2 and 15-3 overall with a win at home against Hempfield Jan. 27.
James recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds on senior recognition night. She and Ilena Berkoski are USC’s only seniors.
Brown and Robbins also finished in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Both Peters Township and Bethel Park scored section wins against Hempfield before tangling with each other Jan. 27.
In Peters Township’s 73-54 triumph over the Spartans, Journey Thompson fired in 28 parts. Natalie Wentzel scored 15 points and Gemma Walker added 14 for the Indians.
Emma Dziezgowski scored 16 points, Mary Bogg tallied 15 and Becky Gillenberger finished with 12 to lead the Black Hawks against Hempfield.
PT came from behind to beat BP, 61-52. The Indians scored 31, fourth-quarter points and eliminated a 25-16 halftime deficit. PT also trailed, 33-30, after three quarters.
Thompson dominated on both ends of the court. She pumped in 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Thompson scored half of her points in the final quarter.
Peters Township’s Avana Sayles scored 16 points, Walker contributed 14 and Wetzel added 11.
Dziezgowski led BP’s attack. She scored 21 of her game-high 29 points in the first half.
In a key Section 1, Class 5A clash, South Fayette defeated Moon, 59-50.
Ava Leroux led the Lions with 19 points, and Maddie Webber followed with 14.
Also in Section 1, Chartiers Valley dispatched Oakland Catholic, 52-35
