Mt. Lebanon players help Pennsylvania win Big 33 Classic
The Mt. Lebanon trio of Alex Tecza, Eli Heidenreich and Joey Daniels helped Pennsylvania defeat Maryland, 28-7, in the 65th annual Big 33 Classic held in Harrisburg.
Heidenreich grabbed four receptions for a game-high 96 yards. On of his catches was a 10-yard TD strike from Daniels, who completed 6 of 10 aerials for a game-high 104 yards.
Tecza rushed for a game-high 94 yards on 18 carries. He also scored a 10-yard TD.
Heidenreich and Tecza are Navy recruits while Daniels will play football at Dayton.
The three were joined by high school teammates Owen Halter and William Harvey on the PA roster. The quintet helped the Blue Devils capture WPIAL and PIAA championships as well as roll up an undefeated record during the 2021 fall football campaign.
Heidenreich caught 54 passes for 1,330 yards while Daniels threw for 2,118 yards. Tecza rushed for 2,079 yards.
Halter and Harvey were key components on a defensive unit that allowed just 11.5 points per game.
The day after playing in the Big 33 Classic, Heidenreich and Daniels helped Mt. Lebanon beat Upper St. Clair, 2-1, for a WPIAL championship in baseball. Both are outfielders on a team that embarks on a state playoff run on June 6.
The day after playing the Big 33 Classic, Halter and Tecza were in uniform for the Lebo boys’ lacrosse team. The Blue Devils dropped their first-round match against Mannheim Township, 16-10.
