Area athletes selected for Roundball Classic

Several area athletes will compete in the annual Senior Roundball Classic to be held May 19-21 at Geneva College in Beaver Falls.
Games will be played as doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. (girls) and 8 p.m. (boys) as well as all day Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. in several classifications.
Mt. Lebanon’s Dori Oldaker will coach the 6A girls’ all-star squad that will challenge the 5A stars at 4:30 p.m. May 21.
The 6A girls’ team features three players from Lebo’s state runner-up and WPIAL championship club: Ashleigh Connor, Brooke Collins and Reagan Murdoch.
The team will also showcase the talents of Bethel Park’s Emma Dziezgowski and Riley Miller as well as Upper St. Clair’s Molly James and Peters Township’s Journey Thompson.
Bryan Bennett, who guided South Fayette to a WPIAL title, will coach the 5A all-star squad.
Chartiers Valley’s Aislin Malcolm and Perri Page headline the 5A unit. SF’s Mia Webber was also named to the team.
CV twins Hallie and Helene Cowan along with teammates Marian Turnbull and Abby Vaites headline the Class 5A Silver roster. The team kicks off the competition at 6:30 p.m. May 19.
The Class 6A versus Class 5A boys tilt in the Gold Division concludes the event. Tip is at 7:30 p.m. May 21.
The 6A Gold roster includes: Upper St. Clair’s Tanner O’Grady and Porter Rauch, Peters Township’s Gavin Cote and Bethel Park’s Dolan Waldo.
SF’s Brandon Jakiela spearheads the 5 Gold line-up
Mt. Lebanon’s Christian Mallon, Joey Peters and Christian Powers will compete for the Class 6A Silver squad, which will face the Silver 5A team at 8 p.m. May 20.
