Peters Township graduate excelling at CWRU
Isabella Mills of McMurray is making the best of her senior year at Case Western Reserve University. The 5-11 swing guard is averaging 16.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game for the Spartans, who were 10-4 overall heading into this past weekend’s action against Washington and Chicago.
Mills scored a career-high 27 points against Denison in 2021. She grabbed a career-high 16 boards twice and dished up a career-high seven assists as many times. She also had her best games for steals (7 against John Carroll) as well as blocked shots (5) and 3-point field goals (8) vs. Denison. She cashed in on eight free throws in two other games this winter.
At the end of 2022, Mills earned Spartan Club Athlete of the Week acclaim. During a 74-49 win at Denison, she pumped in a team-high 24 points by converting 8 of 14 shots form the field. She was 5 of 9 from 3-point range. She added a team-leading nine rebounds and dished out four assists and collected two steals.
Mills is currently ranked fifth in the University Athletic Association. The conference competes in NCAA Division III.
A starter since her freshman year, Mills has been an All-UAA selection and an All-Academic league leader. She entered her senior season ranked 14th in program history for career three-pointers and 15th in blocked shots.
Prior to matriculating to CWRU, Mills was a four-year member of the Peters Township High School basketball team, serving as a captain during her junior and senior seasons. In 2019, she helped lead the Indians to a 30-0 record complete with section, WPIAL and state titles.
Mills averaged 14 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists during her scholastic career. She earned All-State second-team honors as well as Almanac and Observer-Reporter first-team accolades. Academically, she was a highest honor roll recipient and a member of the National Honor Society.
The daughter of Jeff and Kristen is a communication science major at CWRU.
