Westfall, Masua named POTW

Nick Westfall from South Fayette and Luke Masua of Seton LaSalle shared Player of the Week for boys volleyball with Thomas Jefferson’s Chris Boback and Drew Palmer from North Catholic. Westfall is a senior middle hitter while Masua is a senior right-side hitter
The POTW distinction is bestowed by the Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (WPVCA) and included Class AA participants.
The Lions (9-1) and the Rebels (9-1) recently battled in a key Section 3 match. SF upended SLS, 3-1.
The Rebels are ranked No. 2 heading into the WPIAL Class AA playoffs, which commence May 16 and conclude May 25 with the championship matches. The Lions are ranked No. 7.
The PIAA state finals are set for June 17 at Penn State University in both classifications.
In Class AAA, Shaler is rated No. 1 ahead of Penn-Trafford and North Allegheny. Canon-McMillan follows in the fourth position while Upper St. Clair, which has clinched a playoff spot, is positioned at No. 9 in the WPVCA Top 10 poll.
