Bethel Park duo compete in PIAA doubles
Cami Fisher and Lily Sierka of Bethel Park competed in the PIAA doubles tournament held Nov. 3-4 at the Hershey Racquet Club.
After eliminating Hempfield’s Sophie Carson and Alexandra Gregory, 6-0, 6-1,in the first round of action, the BP duo succumbed to the Conestoga tandem of Kate Emmanuel and Jennifer He in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Emmanuel and He eventually earned the bronze medal in the competition, which was won by the Spring-Ford pair of Mia Matriccino and Evelyn Mejia by virtue of a 7-6 (5), 6-3 championship win over Michelle Lerman and Anya Zubenko from Council Rock South.
Fisher, a freshman, and Sierka, a senior, earlier in the season captured the WPIAL Class AAA doubles title, the first in school history. They also helped Bethel Park to the school’s first-ever WPIAL team championship.
