Across the South Hills
There will be free electronic recycling in the rear lot of the Green Tree Municipal building Jan. 6-8. The event will be a 24-hour, self-serve drop off and will be held in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Resources Council, the Allegheny County Health Department and eLoop llc.
Laptops, televisions, computer monitors, speakers, keyboards, and mixed electronics including sweepers, stereo equipment, hair dryers, mixers, cameras, game consoles, radios, DVD players and VCRs will be accepted.
Mt. Lebanon will hold its Christmas tree recycling Jan. 5 and Jan. 12.
Please have the tree at the curb the night before either collection date. The contractor has been instructed to leave any trees that are in plastic bags. All decorations, including lights and tinsel, are to be removed.
Trees may be dropped off at the Public Works facility during the same time. An area will be designated with a sign.
Peters Township and South West Communities Chambers of Commerce will hold a joint luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South, 164 Fort Couch Road, across from South Hills Village.
Richard R. Applegate, president First Commonwealth Financial Advisors, will be the speaker with his 2013 economic forecast.

Vacancies include a five-year-term on the Municipal Authority; a five-year term on the Parks and Recreation Board; a four-year-term on the Planning Commission; three-year-term on the Zoning Hearing Board; and three-year-term on EAC. The next electronics recycling will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Jan. 12, in the parking lot near Clair’s Kennel.
The CFL bulbs are not being accepted with a $1 charge per bulb.
