The Bethel Park branch of Brentwood Bank at the corner of McMurray and South Park roads will host a community shred day from 9 a.m.-noon April 13. Community members may bring confidential documents for on-site shredding with a limit of three boxes. The service is free, however, non-perishable food donations will be accepted for the South Hills Interfaith Ministries.

Street sweeping will begin April 15 on a daily basis. All vehicles must be removed from parking areas and curbside on the designated days. Businesses are swept Monday-Friday from 4-7 a.m.

The north side of the borough will be swept April 15 including Pike St. north between Euclid Avenue and North Jefferson Avenue from 7-11 a.m.

The south side of the borough will be swept from 7-11 a.m. April 16 on all paved areas south of Chartiers Creek.

The west end will be swept from 7-11 a.m. April 17 on the paved areas of Jefferson Avenue west and from the railroad tracks north. On April 18, from 7-11 a.m. all paved streets from Craighead Street east and from Adams Avenue north will be swept.

Apple Hill and McEwen Heights areas will be swept from 7-11 a.m. April 19.

• The Big Mac Band Boosters will meet at 7:30 p.m. April 16 in the high school band room.

Green Tree Day at PNC Park is June 15 when the Pirates take on the Dodgers. The day begins at 1 p.m. with a free tailgate at Green Tree Park with raffles and prizes. The bus leaves the park at 3 p.m. and returns after the game, which begins at 4:05 p.m. There are two sections to choose from and prices vary for residents and non-residents. Limited seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Bus transportation is free for residents and $5 for non-residents. Payment by check or cash is due at sign-up. Tickets will be distributed at the tailgate cookout; notify the municipality if no one in the party will be attending the cookout. Ticket prices range from $25/resident or $30/non-resident for Section 144, to $33/resident to $38/non-resident for Section 103.

The Heritage Library has a hall to rent to the public for parties, showers and meetings. The hall accommodates up to 50 people at a cost of $60. The rental fee includes the hall, a small kitchen and a projector mounted on the ceiling for an additional fee of $10 to display pictures or to show a movie. Mt. Lebanon Marching Band will hold its first Mattress Fundraiser sale from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 20 at Mt. Lebanon U.L. Church’s social hall, 975 Washington Road.

All items brand new with factory warranties.

Free layaway is available. Delivery is also available. Cash, check or credit cards accepted. All profits go directly to the Mt. Lebanon Marching Band.

There will be an open house at the Peters Township Recreation Center from 1-3 p.m. April 27 to learn about the programs being offered. Instructors will be on hand for demonstrations.

• The Character Counts Recognition Award will be presented during a ceremony at 7 p.m. April 23 in the Peters Township Council Chamber.

Summer internships are available at the township for qualified high school and college students. Contact Mike Benton, township engineer, at 412-221-8700.

If a resident wishes to volunteer for clerical work, telephone answering, organization and filing, doing community outreach, working on computers, accounting or engineering, they should also call Benton.

Volunteers are needed to help remove a pile of scrap metal in the Meadow at Boyce Mayview Park. Work will be done from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. April 21.

The Ponderosa Steak House in Washington will be the spot for a pro-life town hall luncheon sponsored by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation. The latest on important pro-life issued will be shared by Michael Ciccocioppo, executive director. The public is invited to this event, which will take place noon-1:30 p.m. April 12.
