Route 50 road work to begin April 30

1 min read

PennDOT District 11 announced that crack and joint sealing operations on Route 50 in Scott and Collier townships, Allegheny County will begin on April 30, weather permitting. Work will occur on Route 50 between Bridgeville and Carnegie boroughs. Short-term, slow-moving lane closures will occur in both directions at various locations from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. weeknights through May 6.

Crack and joint sealing is a preservation activity that prolongs the life of road surfaces by preventing moisture from entering cracks and joints. Moisture can cause potholes and premature deterioration requiring more costly repairs. Swank Construction Company, LLC. of New Kensington, will perform the work under a contract with PennDOT.

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution, slow down, and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through these areas. Visit 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling.
