The Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency (WCTPA) and Washington County Chamber of Commerce have just released the 2013 Washington County Destination Guide. The new, comprehensive publication made its debut at the chamber’s Breakfast Briefing Jan. 18, at the Southpointe Hilton Garden Inn. The event featured Carolyn Boser-Newhouse, Deputy Secretary of Innovation & Investment of PA Department of Community & Economic Development, who discussed the importance of the tourism industry in Pennsylvania and its role as an economic development generator for Washington County.

“Washington County is known nationally and regionally for our heritage tourism, gaming, shopping, special events and festivals,” said J.R. Shaw, president of the Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency. “The new Washington County Destination Guide celebrates these tourism assets alongside world-class business and commercial assets, promoting our county as an outstanding destination in which to not only play, but also to live and work. The guide raises the bar for destination marketing and promotion guides, and is the one stop resource for visitor and business information.”

Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Jeff M. Kotula said the joint partnership between The Chamber and WCTPA is an important collaboration for the county’s continuing marketing initiatives. “The new Washington County Destination Guide combines the best of our two prior guides and allows us to jointly promote our county to both visitors and business prospects through the same publication. It furthers our goals to work together on joint efforts, which will increase our marketing impressions and expand our audience while at the same time reducing costs for both our advertisers and our organizations. Combining both publications into one comprehensive guide for Washington County is a common sense idea that will have a significant impact on our marketing initiatives,” Kotula said.
