Trunk Shows Boutique hosting fundraiser for TELI

Times, they are changing, and when it comes to the way that area nonprofits raise funds, The Early Learning Institute is no exception. The organization, which provides programs and services for children with developmental delays through early intervention and early childhood education services, has shifted its focus away from black-tie galas to low-key happy hour events.
“We are focusing more on these happy hour events – they just fit who we are better,” said TELI Executive Director Kara Rutowski. “They are more intimate and we can host them at different venues and locations all over the area.”
On July 22, Trunk Shows Boutique in Upper St. Clair will host Cupcakes & Cosmos, a benefit for TELI. Cupcakes from Sweet House Bake Shop are on the menu, as are cosmos and special discounts to those who stop in to shop from 5-9 p.m. that evening. Trunk Shows owner, Theres Lucot, is generously donating a portion of her sales during the evening to TELI.
Lucot is no stranger to these type of fundraising events, and said that they do very well. “We can fit as many as 70 people in the store at one time, and we welcome anybody and everybody who wants to participate,” she said.
The discounts of the evening are not being revealed prior, but it is a great chance to get a deal on the designer clothing, jewelry, accessories and gifts that the store carries while supporting a cause. Men are welcome, too – they’ll receive a complimentary cigar.
The event is an open house – there is no formal program or agenda. “People feel more comfortable because they don’t have to get dressed up and sit at a formal dinner. And, the structure allows us to meet the demands of people’s busy schedules today,” Rutowski said.
Rutowski said the fundraising goal is between $2,000 and $2,500 for the event.
Registration for Cupcakes& Cosmos is $25 and can be completed online at www.telicupcakes.org. Walk ins to the event are also welcome. Trunk Shows Boutique is located at 1815 Washington Road, Upper St. Clair.
