Alexandra Guarnaschelli to visit Giant Eagle Market District
Food Network star Alexandra Guarnaschelli, who won last year’s “The Next Iron Chef” competition, is bringing her cooking talents to the South Hills.
At 4 p.m. May 18, Guarnaschelli will be visiting the Giant Eagle Market District in Bethel Park, as well as hosting a cooking demonstration. She will also be visiting the Robinson Market District at 11 a.m.
She’ll have with her her first cookbook, “Old-School Comfort Food: The Way I Learned to Cook,” which was released last month and features 110 personal recipes. Guarnaschelli will be signing copies following the presentation.
In addition to her success on “The Next Iron Chef,” Guarnaschelli is best known as the host of “Alex’s Day Off” and is a regular judge on “Chopped,” both on The Food Network, and “The Cooking Loft” on the Cooking Channel. She has also appeared on “All Star Family Cook-Off,” “The Best Thing I Have Ever Made,” “Iron Chef America,” “Good Morning America” and the CBS “Morning Show.”
Daughter of the respected cookbook editor Maria Guarnaschelli, Alexandra began her career working with the celebrated American chef and restaurateur Larry Gorgione. Encouraged by her mentor, Alexandra went on to make a name for herself in both France and America before she made her jump to cable television.
Currently, she serves as the executive chef of Butter Restaurant in Manhattan and The Darby in the West Village, which was based on her own design.
Guarnaschell’s presentations will be free; however, seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance ticketing is now available online at marketdistrict.com.
