The Peters Township Chamber of Commerce hosts its 24th Annual Golf Outing & Fundraiser at Rolling Hills Country Club June 10. Kick up your heels and kick off your summer at The Burgh’s coolest party. Family Hospice and Palliative Care presents “Soul to Sole” June 14 at J. Verno Studios on the South Side, with funk/soul band House of Soul. Enjoy food, drinks, dancing, prizes for the most outrageous footwear, and more. Silent auction includes items autographed by Jon Bon Jovi, Madonna, Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood and more. Tickets on sale now – space is limited. The Denis Theatre Foundation is hosting a retro-themed gala, Here Comes the Sun, June 20 at the Reed Smith Corporate Offices, located on Fifth Avenue, Downtown. The evening will feature a silent auction, cocktails, hip music and fabulous fare, and will honor the creative team behind the play and film “The Chief,” as well as celebrate the legacy of Art Rooney Sr. Dress is cocktail or business attire. The Bethel Branch of the Montour Trail will hold its Eighth annual J. R. Taylor Memorial 5K Race/Walk on June 1. All proceeds from the event support trail and bridge maintenance and improvements along the trail.

The race/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. on the trail near the Washington Elementary School on Clifton Road behind Al’s Café with a turnaround near Bush Run Road. The finish line is near the starting point. The top three finishers in each age category will receive awards. Snacks, drinks and a door prize drawing will be provided following the race.

Registration for the event can be completed online at runhigh.com or with a paper form, which are available at the message boards along the trail. Event day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Washington Elementary School.

Pre-registration fee is $20 per person through May 17. Registration and $25 thereafter.

The Cecil Friends of the Montour Trail’s Tails for Trails 5K Fun Dog Walk takes place June 1. The walk begins at 9 a.m. at the Kurnick (National) Trailhead – where there will be several vendors featuring pet related products – and will head east to the turn-around at the Tandem Connection, crossing the new bridge over Morganza Road. Frank Ludwin will be grilling hot dogs, and there will be beverages and sweets for the participants when they return. Along with the walk, there will be a Chinese auction and door prizes for the participants, and Candace Verduce Photography will be taking photos of the four-legged furry friends. The Montour Railroad Historical Society will be present, as will Donna Duncan, who will put on a canine CPR demonstration.

Register by May 20 at a cost of $10 for one dog or $16 for two dogs. Following May 20, registration is $12 per dog. Forms are available at several locations on and near the trail and online at www.montour.com.
