Lebo bids farewell to departing school directors

By Nick Lewandowski 1 min read

The Mt. Lebanon school board bid an emotional farewell to longtime school directors Dale Ostergaard and Jo Posti at its Nov. 18 meeting.

“Between them, they have given thousands of hours to this community without asking anything in return,” board president Elaine Cappucci said. “They are a perfect example of two sides of the aisle working together.”

Superintendent Dr. Tim Steinhauer echoed her statements, saying, “Our schools are better for your service.”

Ostergaard and Posti served the district for four and eight years, respectively. Ostergaard served a term as board vice-president and Posti two terms as president. Both helped shepherd the district’s high school renovation project from concept to reality, and also to craft budgets in an increasingly challenging fiscal climate.

“What I learned over the years is that the people I disagreed with most were the people I had the most to learn from,” Posti said. “I hope we keep that diversity on the board. If you come on the board with an agenda, you will quickly learn otherwise. You can’t just focus on what you think you came on the board to accomplish.”

William J. Moorhead and Michael Jon Reimer will succeed the pair as school directors.
