Scott votes to advertise proposed budget

Scott commissioners voted unanimously to advertise their proposed 2014 budget at the board’s regular meeting on Nov. 26. The municipality’s 2014 budget projects total revenue at $9,760,246 and total expenses at $11,808,126. With the 2013 carryover ending fund balance of $2,047,884 as the 2014 beginning fund balance, the 2014 proposed ending fund balance is $3.

The board also voted to advertise the 2014 tax levy ordinance. The township’s 2014 millage rate is projected to be 4.33 mills, with 0.0776 mills designated for the township’s library.

The board is scheduled to vote on the 2014 budget on Dec. 30 at 5 p.m. The township budget will be available on the township’s website at www.scott-twp.com.

In other business, the board hired Todd Tulowitzki as the Assistant Code Enforcement Officer at a starting salary of $42,000 with a one year probation period. The board also hired James Briggs as a public works employee in line with terms of the collective bargaining agreement, subject to Briggs passing a physical.
