Mt. Lebanon SpringHill Suites hotel opens
The long-awaited $15 million SpringHill Suites by Mariott, which sits in the middle of Mt. Lebanon’s business district, has finally opened.
The 108-room hotel opened at 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 29., according to a company representative. The seven-story hotel’s main telephone number had previously been out of service that morning. The reprsentative said it was not known why the number was down. The hotel’s website shows that reservations are being accepted beginning Jan. 2, 2015, but a company representative said they are currently taking reservations ahead of that date.
SpringHill Suites is Marriott’s all-suites hotel product that is in the upper-moderate price range. The hotel’s rooms feature a kitchette with a microwave, refrigerator, a work area, as well as a seating area that features a pull-out sofa. When open, the hotels will offer guests free breakfast, free Wi-Fi and an on-site business center, plus a fitness center and swimming pool. The hotel will offer on-site parking for $12 a night.
The hotel is being developed by Kratsa Properties of Harmar Township on the site of the former North Parking Lot space. Kratsa Properties could not be reached for comment Dec. 29.
The hotel project itself had initially been scheduled to be completed more than a year ago, but had been faced with a number of delays, such as the discovery of an underground fuel storage tank, which has since been rectified.
