On the morning of Oct. 7, 18-year-old Bethel Park resident Renno Young became a hero. He was driving home when he noticed flames coming from his neighbor’s home in the 5900 block of McPherson Avenue – and an elderly woman trying to open her garage door to escape. The quick-thinking high school senior ran up the driveway and lifted the door. Not only did he carry 71-year-old Lillian Kelly out, he ran back into the burning home. To pull out oxygen tanks that were already exploding in the garage. “You see somebody in trouble, you don’t think, ‘am I in danger, should I do this,’ you just react. I saw a house on fire and somebody was inside, and I reacted to that,” Young said.
