New officers for Lebo commission
The Mt. Lebanon commission unanimously voted Kristen Linfante to serve as president and John Bendel as vice president for 2014 at its Jan. 6 organization meeting.
The commission also unanimously appointed Joe Senko acting treasurer until Jan. 4, 2016. The commission had considered two candidates for the position: Senko and Jack Goldschmidt. Ultimately, Senko’s extensive professional experience made the greatest impression on the commissioners. He is both a CPA and certified financial planner, and has worked extensively with tax law and enforcement throughout his career, as well as numerous non-profits.
Senko has served as acting treasurer since longtime Mt. Lebanon treasurer John Ferguson passed away in October.
He said he hopes to put more effort into targeting delinquent taxpayers – particularly those who have gone more than 10 years without paying. “Unfortunately, it is not that simple to go after these people,” he said. “There are numerous procedures you have to follow and you also have to coordinate with other organizations, such as the school district.”
