State Sen. Matt Smith (D-Allegheny/Washington) announced state investments through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).
Newbury Market in South Fayette was awarded $4 million for commercial infrastructure improvements and development. The entire project will transform a former brownfield site into mixed-use development including residential and commercial development.
“Through this state investment, one of Allegheny County’s growing communities will benefit from a main street environment with retail, dining, and office space as well as greenspaces, a hotel, and a grocery store,” said Smith. “This is an important piece of a development project already under construction.”
The RACP grant program is administered by Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget for the acquisition or construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. Fifty-eight projects totaling more than $133 million were chosen for the round of funding announced today. Organizations applying for the program must secure 50 percent matching funds.
