Swallow Hill/Lindsay Road construction continues

By Terry Kish 2 min read

While local drivers have dealt with traffic delays this summer, construction work on Swallow Hill Road is progressing on schedule.

At the Scott Township Commissioners’ July 22 regular meeting, Chip Dalesandro of Golden Triangle Construction Company told the board that despite a “lot of weather problems,” he expects 60 percent of the project to be done by the end of the month.

Drivers should still expect delays though, as Dalesandro told the board that there was no safe way to get the intersection done at Lindsay Road without a weekend road closure while his crews are pouring concrete. Dalesandro asked the board for approval for a weekend closure, starting on a Friday evening, with the road being reopened on Monday morning.

Dalesandro said he would pay the costs for an officer to stay at the intersection when pouring concrete.

The board voted to approve the closure of the Swallow Hill Road and Lindsay Road intersection for up to five days when concrete is being poured. The commissioners discussed notifying residents who live in the area before the work starts so they can find alternate travel routes. They also directed Dalesandro to place signs in the area warning drivers to expect long delays.

In other business:

• The board authorized the township engineer to create bid specs and advertise for storm sewer projects for 1426 Meadowlark Drive, 415 Pinetrees Drive and 352-356 Rockhill Road. The three projects are expected to cost around $150,000, which the township will pay for with excess money from its road program.

• The board appointed Joe Woznicki as the 1st Alternate to the Zoning Hearing Board, with his term expiring June 18, 2017, and appointed Amber Greer as 2nd Alternate, with her term to expire Aug. 12, 2015.
