South Fayette Township seeks new commissioner

Following the resignation of Todd Miller, the South Fayette Township board of commissioners voted at a 2 p.m. special meeting on July 31 to seek a replacement.
The four remaining commissioners attended via conference call, and township manager Ryan Eggleston read Miller’s resignation letter.
“It is with deep regret I must resign from my position,” the July 21 letter said.
Commissioner Lisa Malosh said she appreciated Miller as a colleague and was very grateful for his service.
Eggleston said Miller had missed several meetings as he deals with an ongoing illness. He said interested candidates must be a township resident, and must send a resume and letter of interest to him by Aug. 12.
During public comment, resident Fred Cardillio recommended hiring acting police chief John Phoennik to an official position.
“It’s about time you name him our real chief. He’s proved it and he would be an excellent candidate,” Cardillo said.
Eggleston said Phoennik has been acting chief since April.
The board’s next voting meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at 515 Millers Run Road, Morgan.
