Green Tree Crime Alert

2 min read

A Green Tree resident was the victim of a home repair scam May 21, when money was stolen from the home, borough police said.

Two men approached the residence at about 3 p.m. under the guise to “inspect the property for the county” and to make some repairs involving wiring, police said. The men told the resident they would “not charge much” for the repairs. When completed, the men asked for payment and when the victim, who was not identified, went to another area of the home to get money, one of the men followed while the second man stole more money, police said.

The men are white, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall with average builds and both were wearing white clothing, police said. One of the men had a tattoo on his neck and they were driving an older-model white Ford F-150 pickup with a regular cab. The bed cap was painted white and the truck is possibly a model from 1997 to 2003.

Police urge everyone to not let anyone into the home unless there is a pre-scheduled repair. Anyone soliciting for any reason in the borough must have a permit and the permit must be carried.

If residents observe anyone suspicious, police encourage calling 911.
