South Fayette schools approve proposed budgets
The South Fayette School Board approved the 2014-15 Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) Program of Services proposed budget in the amount of $44,088,563 at its meeting March 25. South Fayette’s expected contribution to the AIU Program of Services budget is about $32,100.
The board also approved the proposed 2014-15 Parkway West proposed budget. The vocational school’s proposed technical operating budget for next year is $5,864,251 and the school’s proposed building rental budget for 2014-15 is $742,742.
The district’s portion of the budget is about $181,000, down from $267,697 for the 2013-14 school year. About 19 South Fayette students attend Parkway West.
In other business:
• The board approved Dr. Wayne DiBartolo as the school district dentist for the 2014-15 school year at the rate of $2.75 per student, the same rate since 2004-05.
• The board approved Dr. Michael Speca as the school district physician for the 2014-15 school year at the rate of $130 per hour, the same rate as the past five years.
• A hybrid online summer remediation course for geometry was approved. The program will run from June 11 to July 24. The cost to parents is $220 for residents and $240 for non-residents. A summer remediation program for algebra I was also approved for the same dates at the same cost.
• School board president Leonard Fornella announced that the South Fayette Foundation’s recent oldies concert was a success. About $3,200 was raised for the foundation. A golf outing fundraiser is planned for July 14 at Southpointe Golf Club.
