Castle Shannon business robbed

By Suzanne Elliott 1 min read

Police are investigating an Aug. 17 evening armed robbery at Nobby’s Pizza Shop, 1106 Castle Shannon Blvd., where a lone employee was threatened at knife point.

Kenneth Truver, Castle Shannon chief of police, said the robber is a shorter white male, between 5’6″ to 5’8″ with brown eyes. He was wearing a black ski mask, black-hooded sweatshirt, darker blue jeans and work boots. Police said the robber received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled south on Poplar Avenue. Truver said no one was hurt. He declined to say how much cash the robber got away with.

Surveillance video of the robbery is in the process of being reviewed by Allegheny County Police, who are assisting Castle Shannon police with the investigation.

The robbery is the third such incident this month.

On July 24, someone forced open the doors at the rear of Bob’s Diner, 1230 Grove Road and took an unspecified amount of cash. And on Aug. 4, employees of Sherwin Williams, 3603 Library Road, found the back doors of the business open. Nothing was reported missing, police said.

The robbery of the pizza shop is not related to the two previous business burglaries, Truver said.
