Genealogy society

The Mt. Lebanon Genealogy Society will meet at 1 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Mt. Lebanon Public Library for new and experienced genealogy researchers. Share tips, learn new ones and discover your ancestors. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Women’s club

The South Park Women’s Club will hold its first meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at the South Park Community Center. Vickie Koda, a member of the Women’s Club, will speak on health, wellness and essential oils.

Registered nurses club

The Southwestern Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20 at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park. Fundraisers

Purse Bash

Outreach Teen & Family Services, Mt. Lebanon, will hold its fourth annual “Ladies’ Night Out Purse and Cash Bash” at 6 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Castle Shannon Fire Hall. Thousands of dollars’ worth of designer handbags and cash are awarded to guests in a raffle that is included with the ticket. Tickets are $35 each and include a light dinner, beer, wine or signature cocktail and a chance to win 20 different cash and handbag prizes throughout the evening. For tickets, call 412-561-5405. Day of Service

The Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park, Upper St. Clair, will hold MLK Day of Service at 10 a.m. Jan. 19, for children in grades 1-6 (students in grades 7-9 may register as group assistants). Speaker series

Bethel Park Recreation and the Bethel Park Public Library welcome politician and author Bob Cranmer to the Bethel Park Community Center at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 as part of the Bethel Park Town Hall Speaker Series. He will discuss his book, “The Demon of Brownsville Road,” which recounts the true story of the evil presence in his Brentwood home and the spiritual war that ensued. Free admission.
