Mike McCormick running for Washington County commissioner
Mike McCormick says he has a vision to grow and expand the prosperity Washington County has been met with over the past decade.
The 66-year-old McCormick, of Country Corners Circle, Venetia, is the current CEO and chairman of BenchMark Wealth Management, and said it is his private-sector experience that will help him lead the county into sustainable prosperity as one of three county commissioners.
In addition to his business acumen and financial skills, McCormick said his personal values in faith and family validate him as a responsible leader.
“I’ve been married to my wife Cathie for 44 years; have three children, six grandchildren. I’m an elder (at the Bible Chapel) and very active in my faith community. I was the finance chairman for the Franklin Graham Three Rivers Festival of Hope,” he said.
No stranger to the political scene, McCormick ran against former U.S. Rep. Frank Mascara (D-Charleroi) and lost in 1994 and 1996. He’ll likely face off against incumbent Republican commissioner Diana Irey Vaughan in addition to any other challengers.
“I learned the benefits of a well-run, professional campaign … organizing a grass-roots effort of knocking on doors and those sorts of things while also engaging with people on social media. I believe between those two aspects, the people of Washington County will see what I’m about and will come out and vote for us.”
“I’m not a career politician. We need new energy, new ideas and new people in local government to expand upon what has already been established.”
