The stretch of Brightwood Road in Bethel Park between South Park and Library roads will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. July 30 to stabilize a retaining wall adjacent to Port Authority Transit’s light rail track.

Jeanna Fisher, Allegheny County project manager, said the stabilization project, which will cost the county in excess of $6 million, is expected to take three weeks to complete. The work is being done in conjunction with a road repaving project of the full 1.6 mile length of Brightwood Road. That work is anticipated to last through mid September and will be done under single-lane closures with flag men maintaining traffic at all times.

“It’s part of our capital roads improvement project,” Fisher said.

Traffic will be maintained for all local residents and businesses throughout the duration of the project. Lane Construction of Bridgeville is the project contractor.
