Mt. Lebanon deer corrals allegedly sprayed with urine

Mt. Lebanon police are investigating reports of people trespassing and spraying deer corrals with either animal urine or deer repellent.
“The pictures we have show individuals with super soakers or large-type water guns spraying some sort of substance around the corrals,” said Mt. Lebanon deputy police Chief Aaron Lauth.
Lauth said J. Merlin Brenner, president of Wildlife Specialists, LLC, the company contracted to bait, trap and shoot the deer, sent police infrared camera pictures between Feb. 21-28 showing individuals tampering with corrals at more than one site. Due to the ongoing investigation, Lauth declined to identify the specific sites where the individuals were caught on camera.
Brenner told the Tribune-Review he believes the liquid sprayed on the corrals is animal urine, but unsure of what kind. He said he worries protesters will continue to trespass and tamper with the sites.
“His employees are checking those cameras daily. We’re also checking the sites during our patrols,” Lauth said.
According to representatives with Wildlife Specialists, LLC, the company has cameras at every one of the corrals, including sites in Bird, Robb Hollow and McNeily parks, and the golf course. Protesters have demonstrated at recent board meetings and at a corral site just off of Connor Road.
