Upper St. Clair reaches three-year deal with support staff

By David Singer 1 min read

Custodians, food servers and other support staff employed by the Upper St. Clair School District have reached a new three-year collective bargaining agreement that gives workers a 1.8 percent pay increase.

According to the new contract, a 2.2 percent increase in salaries would be offset by increases in health care contributions, leading to the 1.8 percent net pay raise.

The president of the Upper St. Clair Special Service Federation, the union representing about 170 employees, said the contract was fair for both sides.

“We were committed to reaching a fair contract. We did just that and our members voted overwhelmingly to accept the new contract. This new three-year agreement continues the solid labor management relationship we have with the District,” Andy Ruffalo said.

The announcement was made at the March 24 school board meeting, where the board recognized retiring custodian Leslie Gregg West for 27 years of service in the district.
