• South Hills Art League members will present a late summer-early autumn exhibit and sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Aug. 27 through Oct. 29, at the Jewish Community Center on Kane Boulevard, Scott Township. • South Fayette’s Community Day will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at Fairview Park. The event will include food, beer, vendors, live entertainment, face painting, photo booth, Kid City DJ, raffles, corn hole, bounce houses, petting zoo and more. Parking is limited. Accessible parking and golf cart shuttles will be available inside the park. Bus shuttles will pick up and drop off at the following locations: Zion Lutheran Church, Kiddie Academy South Fayette, Star City and Morgan Park. • Mt. Lebanon will hold a shredding event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at the public works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive, off Cedar Boulevard. Iron Mountain will shred confidential papers on site at a cost of $5 per box, with the first box free (approximately 18 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches). Cash and checks are accepted.

• NAACP Washington Branch’s Stand With Us membership campaign runs through Oct. 31. Regular meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month. For more information, call 724-222-7820.

• Upper St. Clair High School has been named one of America’s Top High Schools by Newsweek magazine, ranking 113th in the nation. Ranked fifth in Pennsylvania, USC is one of only 28 high schools in the state and four in Allegheny County to earn the distinction in 2016. Newsweek ranks the nation’s top 500 high schools based on criteria including proficiency rates on state standardized assessments, college enrollment rate, graduation rate, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate participation and scores, SAT and ACT scores, counselor-student ratio, and student enrollment retention from ninth through 12th grades. The only other high school in the South Hills to make the list was South Fayette High School, coming in at No. 317.
