Columbia Gas to begin working nights on East McMurray Road in Peters Township
Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania hopes to make life easier for motorists traveling on East McMurray Road in Peters Township.
Beginning Aug. 1, the utility will switch from working on the East McMurray pipeline replacement project during daylight hours to a shift of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., said Sarah Perry, a Columbia Gas spokeswoman.
“We want to limit traffic disruptions,” she said.
The $1.5 million project, which involves replacing more than 8,500 feet of pipeline, stretches from Lindenville Road to Thomas Road, less than half a mile. Customers are affected on Candlelite Drive, Canldelite Circle, Lampliter Lane, Andiron Circle, Fireside Drive, Forest Drive, McClintock Drive, Peters Drive and Clearview Drive.
Customers who have indoor meters will have them moved outside and their service lines replace, at no additional cost.
The night work is expected to continue through October, Perry said. According to the Columbia Gas’ website, 138 homes are impacted by the project, which began last month.
Overall, Columbia Gas will invest $210 million in Pennsylvania this year, with more than $160 million earmarked for upgrading aging underground infrastructure.
