Columbia Gas to invest $1.5 million on Peters Township pipeline
Within the next few days, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania will begin replacing pipeline throughout Peters Township, a move that will cause a temporary service disruption more than 100 homes.
The project, which involves replacement of more than 8,500 feet of pipeline, will impact Columbia Gas customers on East McMurray Road, Candlelite Drive, Candlelite Circle, Lampliter Lane, Andiron Circle, Fireside Drive, Forest Drive, McClintock Drive, Peters Drive and Clearview Drive. Customers will be notified ahead of time, and the service disruption will be no more than a few hours, said Jennifer DuBois, a Columbia Gas spokeswoman.
Construction will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Work on the $1.5 million pipeline replacement project is expected to be completed by fall.
Columbia representatives will personally contact customers who will be affected by the work to schedule restoration of gas service. Employees will carry photo IDs identifying them as company workers, DuBois said.
Customers who have indoor meters will have them moved outside at no additional cost, she said. Those customers will have their service lines replaced as well, again at no extra cost, she added.
Overall, Columbia Gas will invest $210 million in Pennsylvania this year, with more than $160 million earmarked for upgrading aging underground infrastructure.
“We would like to remind motorists to use caution when approaching work zones,” Mark Kempic, president of Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, said in a release. “Drivers should be prepared for slowed or temporarily stopped traffic during the construction season. We appreciate the public’s patience while this important work is being completed.”
