Two area golfers finish in PIAA Top 10

Two area golfers finished in the Top 10 during the PIAA Class AAA girls’ championships held last week at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.

Caroline McConnell carded a 78-79-157 during the two-day event. The South Fayette freshman finished fourth overall, behind champion Caroline Wrigley of North Allegheny (74-73-147) and co-runners-up Danae Rugola of Uniontown and Mary Kate Norcross from Chambersburg. Both scored 154s.

Sara Steve took 10th place. The Upper St. Clair junior managed an 81-83-164 score.

In the boys’ Class AAA division, Luke Lestini of South Fayette scored a 78-78-156 to place 16th overall. That was 16 strokes off the winning pace set by Palmer Jackson from Franklin Regional and 12 strokes behind runner-up Jimmy Meyers from Central Catholic.
