Symphony quartet performs
Members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform during the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at Bethany Lutheran Church, 5303 Madison Ave., Bethel Park.
USC concerts
The Upper St. Clair Performing Arts Department presents a series of concerts and performances by students of all ages. All start at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public:
Jan. 8 – Elementary Combined Choral Concert, high school theater;
Jan. 15 – Combined Strings Concert, high school theater.
Free Christmas dinner
The Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave., Carnegie, will be serving a dinner from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 25. Shut-ins, people with special needs and veterans who live in the neighboring areas are encouraged to call 412-276-0366 to order their dinners by Dec. 20. There is no charge for dinner or local delivery. Volunteers are also invited to help at the event.
Memory Café
St. David’s Neighborhood Memory Café will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 4 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 905 E. McMurray Road, Peters Township. The topic will be the differences between CBD and Capaiba Essential Oil. Sponsors are doTerra Essential Oils and Kindred Hospice. The meeting is open to the public. Illusionist show
Chabad of the South Hills Jewish Center in Mt. Lebanon presents “A Magical Evening With World-Renowned Master Illusionist Ilan Smith” on Jan. 26 at the Carnegie Stage, 25 W. Main St., Carnegie. The show starts at 7:45.

Dinner for a Dollar
Community of Christ, 3472 South Park Road in Bethel Park will hold a “dinner for a dollar” spaghetti dinner Thursday, Jan. 9 from 5-7 p.m. The church will be serving spaghetti, bread and rolls, fresh garden salad, and desserts. The church accepts donations of $1 per person or $3 per family, although it is not required. No reservations needed. No take out will be available, including desserts.

Square dance lessons
Square dance lessons will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.Thursdays beginning Jan. 9 at Southminster Church, 799 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon. Singles or couples are welcome. No experience is necessary. Admission is $4.

Retired Men’s Luncheon Group
The Retired Men’s Luncheon Group invites retirees to its lunch at noon Jan. 16 at Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road in Pleasant Hills. Following lunch, Thomas Jefferson High School students Mara and Casey Lako will play violin and guitar arrangements of songs from the Beatles to modern contemporary music. Brews for a Chili Night
Tickets are on sale for the 10th annual winter beer-tasting fundraiser, scheduled from 6-8:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at Mt. Lebanon Public Library.
Brews for a Chili Night features more than two dozen types of craft beer and cider, plus a wide variety of chili, snacks and desserts. The RML Jazz band will perform. Tickets are available at the library’s front desk or online at mtlebanonlibrary.org/405/Brews-for-a-Chili-Night.
Regular tickets are $35 each. Special $50 tax-deductible sponsorship tickets are also available. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
All proceeds go to the Mt. Lebanon Public Library and support programs and materials serving many surrounding communities. The event is sponsored by Friends of the Mt. Lebanon Library.

PT Library to host event
Anyone planning to make 2020 the year to conquer clutter, register to attend Get Organized for Good at the Peters Township Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 10-11 a.m. Certified Professional Organizer and President of Discovering Organizing Jill Yesko will provide step-by-step de-cluttering and organization instruction. Yesko will share Pittsburgh resources for recycling, selling and donating household items, as well as methods to simplify the home. Saint Elizabeth Elementary School, located at 1 Grove Place in Baldwin, will be hosting its annual Catholic Schools Week Open House on Jan. 26.
