PT sweeps SLS

Peters Township swept Seton LaSalle, 3-0, in girls volleyball action. The Lady Indians won in straight sets, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-23.

Lauren Valentic recorded 14 kills while Emmy Ploskina registered seven aces and 17 assists to lead the attack.

PT upends USC

Peters Township defeated Upper St. Clair, 5-1, to remain undefeated in field hockey this season.

With two tallies each, Cassidy King and Gia Grau led the offensive for the Lady Indians, who are the defending WPIAL champions. Nica Schratz supplied that other goal.

Madeline Takos scored for the Lady Panthers.

SP netter qualifies

Nicole Kempton defeated Christina Walton, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, in the WPIAL AAA consolation tennis match played at Shady Side Academy. With the victory, the South Park freshman also qualified for the PIAA championships set for November in Hershey.

USC edges BP

Nick Tanner scored in the 62nd minute off a free kick from Colin Sibley to lift Upper St. Clair to victory, 1-0, over Bethel Park in Section 2-AAAA soccer action. With the win, the Panthers improved to 4-1-2 in the league and 6-1-2 overall. The Hawks slipped to 2-6 in the section and 3-6-1 overall.
