PT nets win
The Peters Township girls tennis team defeated North Allegheny 4-1.
The Indians’ Kat Wang, Marra Bruce and Adisyn Morehead swept the single matches.
PT’s Bella Englesberg and Grace Salus combined for a win at No. 1 doubles. The Indians’ Maddie Mackay and Abby Siconilfi battled three sets before falling at No. 2 doubles.
Golfer decides
Peters Township senior Ella McRoberts made a verbal commitment to Denison University where she will continue her golf career while pursuing a degree in public policy.
She placed third in the WPIAL, won the Western Regional and earned All-State acclaim with a top 8 finish in last year’s PIAA tournament.
The 17-year-old daughter of Craig and Lori McRoberts of McMurray also helped lead the Indians to a third-place showing in the WPIAL team tournament.
PT tops USC
The Peters Township girls golf team defeated Upper St. Clair 178-184 in a key section match played at Vallebrook Country Club.
The Indians’ Delaney Kern earned medalist honors with a 41. Ella McRoberts and Allison Poon followed with 43s for PT. Maddie Weaver provided a 51 to the winning score.
Serna Ploeger led the Panthers with a 44. Caroline Wright and Anna McElligott followed with 46s while Tori Slagle fired a 48.
The two teams tied for a section title last season before USC went on to win the WPIAL championship.
Slagle previously carded a low-score of 43 to lead USC to victory against Bethel Park at Scenic Valley Golf Club.
The Indians also defeated BP 177-240. McRoberts (41), Poon (42), Kern (43) and Anne Chang (51) were the leading scorers.
Field hockey
Peters Township defeated Hempfield 4-0 in field hockey.
Cassidy King led the offensive attack, scoring twice and collecting two assists.
Gia Grau and Ava Pugliano added the other goals.
