Peters Township earns No. 2 seed in WPIAL soccer playoffs

Peters Township and Seneca Valley are headed for a showdown if the top-seeded teams advance to the WPIAL Quad-A boys soccer championship game to be held Nov. 6 at Highmark Stadium.
The final is set for 5:45 p.m. pending the Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ own playoff schedule. The alternate time is 2 p.m.
The Indians (14-1-1, 11-1-1) are seeded second while the Raiders earned the top spot with their 15-0-1 record.
Last year, Seneca Valley edged Peters Township, 4-3, in double overtime for the 2020 title.
There are pitfalls along the way for the Indians and the Raiders in No. 3 seed Norwin (14-1-1) and No. 4 seed Canon-McMillan (13-2-1).
The Big Macs defeated Peters Township, 3-2, during the regular season. The win helped seal the Section 2 title for the Big Macs. However, C-M tied Mt. Lebanon to finish 11-1-1 in the section.
The Blue Devils are in C-M’s half of the bracket. Lebo is seeded eighth with a 10-6-2 record.
Lebo (10-6-2) hosts Taylor Allderdice at 8 p.m. Oct. 26 in its first-round playoff game. A victory guarantees a quarterfinal match-up against Seneca Valley Oct. 30.
PT and C-M received first-round byes and will play their first matches Oct. 30.
The Indians play the winner of the Central Catholic/Bulter contest while the Big Macs host the winner of the match between Fox Chapel and Penn-Trafford.
Upper St. Clair (6-8-2) visits North Allegheny at 8 p.m. Oct. 26. The winner plays Norwin Oct. 30.
The Quad-A semifinals are set for Nov. 2 at a site and time to be determined.
Bethel Park (10-5-1), Mt. Lebanon (9-6-2) and Peters Township (9-3-3) qualified for the WPIAL Quad-A girls tournament.
The Black Hawks host Fox Chapel at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25. A win would earn them a shot at No. 1 North Allegheny (15-0-1) at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
Lebo travels to Butler for a 6:30 p.m. start Oct. 25. The winner faces No. 2 Moon (13-1-1) at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
The Indians host Pine-Richland Oct. 25. A win assures PT a visit to Greater Latrobe Oct. 28. Both games have a 6:30 p.m. start.
The Quad-A girls championship game is set for 8 p.m. Nov. 4 at Highmark Stadium.
South Fayette qualified both its boys and girls teams in the Class AAA tournament.
The Lions girls team hosts Gateway at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25. The boys played Thomas Jefferson Oct. 23 in a match that ended too late to be included in this edition.
The Class AAA championship games are set for Nov. 6 at Highmark Stadium.
