Mt. Lebanon, Peters Township advance in boys’ lacrosse

Mt. Lebanon blasted Central Catholic, 19-3, and Peters Township dispatched Upper St. Clair, 17-10, to set up a semifinal showdown in the WPIAL Class 3A boys lacrosse playoffs.

The Blue Devils will challenge the Indians on Monday with the winner advancing to the championship match set for later in the week at Joe Walton Stadium on the Robert Morris University campus.

Earlier in the season, Lebo snapped PT’s undefeated streak, scoring an 11-7 triumph back on April 27.

In breezing past the Vikings, Lebo staked a 6-1 lead on the strength of Jack McCann’s hat trick. He finished with four goals.

Miles Halter had a hat trick while Alex Tecza, Luke Periziso and Mac Robertson each provided two goals.

Single tallies were recorded by Brodie Porretta, Colton Cramer, Luke Periziso, Aidan Conway, Matt Wertz, Liam Byrne and Jonas Wells.

Meanwhile, PT constructed a 6-0 first-frame advantage it extended to 10 goals by halftime and 12 by the end of three quarters in sending the Panthers home with an 11-6 overall record.

Liam McCall led the attack, firing in four goals and dishing up for assists for the Indians.

Riley Grudi also provided four tallies while Chase Cogley picked up the hat trick as well as two assists.

Eliot Schratz and Ryan Shannon both scored twice while Cam Uchic and Noah Schratz tacked on one goal each. Eliot Schratz also notched three assists.

Zach Courie recorded eight saves in the nets for the Indians.

For the Panthers, Brady Erdos and Dalton Yates registered hat tricks

While the Blue Devils and Indians received first-round byes, USC earned its way into the quarterfinals with a weather-delayed victory over Canon-McMillan, 16-6.

Judah Kennedy tallied four goals and Ryan Buonomo added three.

Aiden Besselman chipped in two, while dishing up five assists.

In other boys first-round action, Seneca Valley eliminated Bethel Park, 12-7.
