Sports campThe Peters Township girls lacrosse and field hockey camp will be held at the Pleasant Valley turf field from 9:30-noon July 31-Aug. 1 for K-fourth grade players; from 9 to noon on Aug 2-3 for grades 5-8. Ninth graders new to either sport can attend on Aug. 2-3.

Fee is $100. Make checks payable to Peters Girls Lacrosse and mail to Anne Parisi, 344 Snowberry Circle, Venetia, PA 15237.

Fall volleyballRegistration for the United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL) is being accepted for fall leagues.

The eight-week programs provide instruction for boys and girls, ages 7 to 15, with curricula that engagingly teaches volleyball skills in a positive environment. Sessions are held twice per week. Practices and games operate in a non-competitive format and offers development of coordination, confidence, self-esteem, and sportsmanship.

USYVL offers a league in South Fayette beginning Sept. 11. Sessions are 6:30-7:30 p.m. or 7:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. or 10-11 a.m. at the elementary school, located at 3620 Old Oakdale Rd. in McDonald.

Reduced registration fees apply until Aug. 1. Fee includes a uniform t-shirt and participation medal. Register at www.usyvl.org

Fabus RunThe Joey Fabus Superhero Run Over DIPG 5K Race/Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 17 at Bethel Park High School.

The event is a fundraiser for DIPG and commemorates Fabus, an 8-year-old boy who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in May 2014 and died Jan. 21, 2015 from DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). The cancer currently has a survival rate is 0%.

Proceeds from the race, which has attracted 400 runners in the past, benefit the Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to raise awareness and funding to find a cure for DIPG. Visit jffccf.org for more details or to learn about the non-profit organization’s work.

In addition to runners, the event is seeking corporate sponsors. Donations are tax deductible.
